Mikesell Ranch Reveal - Master Bedroom

Mikesell Ranch Reveal - Primary Bedroom

Maybe one of the most ironic parts of this entire project for the Mikesells is that their primary bedroom suite is one of the smallest & most limited spaces in their entire home! As many are already aware, Betsy is the face & genius behind Beddy’s, a revolutionary bedding & linens brand that has taken the industry by storm with her brilliant ‘zip up’ bedding sets that keeps every bed looking beautifully made.

When we first signed on to this project, Betsy & I discussed the potential of building out this bedroom to give them more space & light but ultimately landed on working within the confines of the original footprint so they could get settled into their home asap. And with an already tight primary bedroom closet space, we needed to utilize every square inch of this bedroom to really function for them both.

We chose this streamlined profile boucle & iron finish bed to add texture without taking up too much square footage as our layout required a very slim nightstand option on the left side to not block the primary patio door entry. One of my absolute favorite finds for this space is the antique 1920’s leather top vanity from a shop in New Orleans that fit absolutely perfectly in our tight corner to give Betsy a spot for her morning routine, with the perfectly sized ivory boucle slipper chair that tucks in out of the way when not in use.

Betsy was adamant about additional wardrobe storage & to fit the budget & timeline, we chose two dressers that could butt up side by side to create a wall of storage without the custom pricepoint. The custom hair on hide storage bench at the foot of the bed added both that layer of organic ranch style Betsy so loves with the functionality of linens storage.

We knew we wanted to stay overall fairly neutral in the space to give Betsy the flexibility to change out her bedding and film content for Beddy’s often but we fell in love with this slate blue handknotted wool rug by Jaipur that was the perfect blend of modern meets western vibes - truly, the finish and depth of this rug is spectacular and the framing along the rug’s edge is just the right amount of detail. We worked with local Franklin, TN faith-based artist Deann Hebert to carry through the ‘three horses’ theme with her ‘Wildfire’ framed canvas and topped off everything with a playful nod to the equestrian theme with a tiered brass & ivory tasseled chandelier.

Custom drapery & hardware by Uptown Drapes in their classic Herringbone in Bark added the perfect amount of warmth. And in the bathroom we snagged another amazing deal at 80% off this scallopped beaded chandelier (we’ve linked a similar style below because Betsy singlehandedly sold out the original when we posted the clearance price!). We finished out the bathroom with a one of a kind vintage Turkish anatolian rug (I can’t pass up a good vintage rug!) and some dimensional textile wall art encased in acrylic that add to light & airy vibes we wanted to keep in what is an otherwise tight corner of the home.

A quick walkthrough of Betsy Mikesell’s primary bedroom space. Working within the limitations of the existing footprint, we brightened up the room & put every nook & cranny to work to provide the storage & functionality Betsy & Gentry needed for their primary bedroom suite.
